Ever wished that your favorite digimon would jump out of the screen and sit on your desk?3D printing technology allows us to bring ideas to life, watch how we took this good fighting cat from pixels to plastic. In this post, we'll share how to print a realistic Gatomon Digimon model in PLA+Filament. Whether it's the body, ears or claws, they can be perfectly rendered with careful material selection and printing parameter settings. Let's share the process of my Gatomon Digimon printed with PLA+Filament.

    3D Printed Gatomon

    Material Preparation

Before printing, let's prepare the following types of PLA+ printing filament, of course you can also choose PLA filament, if you have doubts about PLA and PLA+, you can check out this explanation of home 3D printing materials to ensure the printing effect and color reproduction:

1.White filament: for printing the body parts of the Gatomon Digimon.

2.Pink filament: to print the inner details of the ears.

3.Black, white and blue filament: for eye details respectively.

4.Black filament: to print claws, whiskers and ear tips.

5.Orange and yellow filament: print the arms and tail parts to show the vibrant contrast.

    Caution:

1.Check that the filament is dry, moisture will affect the print quality.

2.Use the special filament holder to avoid tangling.

3.Make sure the printer nozzle and heated bed are clean.

    Preparation for Printing

    1.Model Processing

Use modeling software or download the STL model of Gatomon Digimon from a trusted platform, then analyze the model structure and export it into different color parts.

    2.Printer Calibration

Calibrate the printer nozzle height and make sure the Z-axis is parallel to the print bed. Check the power supply and connectivity of the printer.

    3.Color Separation Printing

For parts that need to be printed in multiple colors, use slicing software to set up layered printing. The Slice & Pause function is recommended for ease of operation when changing filaments.

    Printing Parameter Settings

The following print parameters are recommended for PLA+ filament printing:

1.Nozzle temperature: 200-220°C. We use UJOYBIO3D Hyper PLA+ filament, the optimal printing temperature is 220°C.

2.Print bed temperature: 50-60℃ by default.

3.Layer Height: Default is 0.2mm, you can also set it to 0.18mm, the lower the layer height, the more delicate and smooth the surface of the finished model will be.

4.Printing Speed: The overall recommended speed is 300mm/s. UJOYBIO3D's Hyper UJOYBIO3D's Hyper PLA+ filament supports a maximum printing speed of 500mm/s, so you can set 300mm/s here, the first layer speed is 50mm/s, and the first layer filling is 105mm/s.

5.Fill rate: Here refer to the data on the model drawing I gave below, except for the yellow area within the rectangle set the fill density to 50%, the fill pattern selects spiral, the fill density of all other places are set to 15%.

6.Support: type choose tree, threshold angle set to 30.

7.The number of wall layers is set to 2, and the top pattern selects monotonic line

8.Cooling Fan: Adaptable to turn on according to the local environment to ensure the surface of the printout is smooth.

    Caution

When printing with one printer, you can choose a single accessory of the same color to print at the same time, which is fast and saves time. When printing filament switching, clean the nozzle completely of any residual old color filament.

When printing part details, reduce the print speed by 250-270mm/s to ensure edge quality.

    Assembly and Post-Processing

    1.Part Inspection

Ensure that all printed parts are intact without cracks or warped edges. If any details are not fine enough, you can use a knife or sandpaper to trim them.

    2.Glue & Assembly

Use plastic special glue to fix the model parts. Before gluing, make a test splicing of the joints to make sure there is no error before applying the glue.

    3.Spray Painting & Decorating

If you are not very satisfied with the color of your print filament, to further refine the details after the print is completed, you can use acrylic paints as needed. Spray a layer of transparent protective paint to enhance the durability and luster of the model.

    Caution

    Assembling Gatomon's Ears

If the inner side of the pink paste is not too solid, you can use the appropriate amount of glue to paste, to avoid excess glue overflow affect the beauty. Operate spraying in a well-ventilated environment and wear protective gear.

The following video is the whole process of printing and assembling the Gatomon Digimon with our Hyper PLA+ filament from UJOYBIO3D, which can be used for your reference.

    Summarize

Gatomon is a holy beast digital beast, use 3D printing filament to bring it from the virtual world, to your desk, and bring the digital beast into real life. You can choose PLA material, you can also choose more environmentally friendly Hyper PLA + filament, through the setting of fine parameters and patient post-assembly, you can easily print a lifelike Gatomon digital beast model. 3D printing is the fun of creating and realizing, pick up your 3D printer and PLA + filament, and start the wonderful journey of 3D printing together!
